UNFRIEND, BLOCK, OR DELETE FRIEND REQUESTS?

These are common situations you have to deal with when you have an account in Facebook.

Which I think different from any other social media platforms like instagram, tweeter, or youtube to name a few.

The very reason to this, for one, “Facebook,” is more personal compare to those that are listed above.

In such a way that, most of your approved friends were people that you personally knew. A family member, loved ones, co-workers, somebody whom you just met and just opened your trust and heart with.

One great function of Facebook, is to really connect with people, people that you knew, and those that you have just met along the way.

One good advantage of this social media platform is that you have a direct control that lies in your hand to choose who you want to have friends with. Right?

You’ll be notified when you have new friend requests that awaits you.

But of course, there’s also another button which allows you not to welcome the said request by deleting it. Which sometimes a very hard decision to make. But becomes easy when you do not have any interest to consider him/her to be one of your friends.

On the other hand, you also have the power to look for people who you want to be friends with by personally searching them and send a friend notification request.

But since again, you have the power to choose the people you want to be friends with, sometimes you have to be ready for some unwelcoming remarks like being ignored.

Behind this social media platform are real people with emotions that might probably get hurt when they were being taken for granted.

TALKING ABOUT A CERTAIN SITUATION WHEN YOU ARE BEING UNFRIEND ON FACEBOOK

I’d like to start tackling this by sharing one personal experience I had with a friend on Facebook.

The person was one of my former co-worker in one broadcasting company where I used to work before.

I considered her one of my friend personally and also we became friends in Facebook too.

Not for anything, the idea just came in, I wanted to remove friends that are not so active in Facebook.

But allow me to first define what I mean when I say “not so active.” It simply means for a very long period of time, I never had any more communication with this person. Not even a single like or any messenger messages.

One time, this person sent me a message via messanger directly asking why I resulted on befriending her. I just said with all honesty, I previously posted on my Facebook timeline a notification to all my friends that I will be removing friends not anymore interacting with me. Though I knew that I offended her, I just told her to send me another friend request. She stopped communicating with me after that.

WHY I DELETED SOME FRIEND REQUESTS?

The easiest and the hardest question so far. Why do I say so?

If you do not have any interest to get to know a particular person who sent you a friend request, perhaps that best thing to do is to ignore or delete it.

You care about information you are sending to your friends on Facebook, now if you think you cannot trust the person on things that matters to you, that’s indeed one of the best decision you will do.

The thing is sometimes you are confronted with a situation that you do not know the person entirely. But of course, you also do some research about the person sending you a friend request. Like looking at common friends that you know and vice versa. And when you found out that there’s no single friend or that he/she’s affiliated with, that’s the time you come up with a decision not to pursue plans of approving one’s friend request.

ON BLOCKING FRIENDS

This is one of the most wonderful power that you can gain from using Facebook, the ability to block friends.

You personally choose the people to be your friends on Facebook, but the opposite of it, on worst scenario, you completely do not want to have any more connection with them.

This happens in a number of reasons. The person simply annoys you.

I remember one friend confession, he blocked one person on Facebook because he took one of his half-naked photo on the beach uploaded in Facebook, xerox copied it and without his knowledge spread this photo to ashamed him.

Another reason was also coming from a friend on Facebook where she started to find most of her friend uploads on Facebook becoming irrelevant. She even said everything that happened on her life was already shared on the said social media platform. She said, not thinking twice about her decision she resorted from blocking her.

There was also some scenarios where some friends on Facebook was telling their friends that they were being “blocked” because they have different political opinions.

Sometimes the following mentioned situations was an outcome of just simply us showing a behavior of giving up or “I never wanted to hear anything about you.”

When some feel that the situation simply imply the song which Britney Spears popularizes…”Toxic.”

This made people resorted from arriving with above mentioned situations.

Recently, I posted a message on my Facebook, announcing that I will be removing some inactive friends on Facebook. (See uploaded Facebook message on my account).

I was thrilled, I even laughed at some reactions I had with some friends. But being so true about it, those people who gave their responses were some reactions I was expecting.

But you know, honestly speaking, I felt that some really valued what we have on Facebook. While, some remains to be just still and do not have any reactions at all.

But I want my friends to understand, that more than the power I have here in Facebook to choose friends I want to exchange information with, I want us to continue the “connection,” let us communicate with one another, react, or if you can write you can say that I can relate to you. After all, the technology emerged because of all these amazing reasons.

Now, do you still wanted to know why they have unfriend you, blocked, or even deleted your friend request? Never allow this thing to happen talk back my friend.
